Some of the sail posts and side runs might be made of wood, or also plastic. The hull is nicely done in a dark green giving the model a very dignified look. The model is set into two spindles mounted to the base of the case. The scale of the model is not noted on the piece, but certainly large as you can see from the measurements that are noted below. The wood trim pieces are applied to the glass, not an actual frame for the glass. All the glass in intact, no cracks or blistering. The display case is 24″ long by 21″ tall by 7.25 wide. Bluenose was a fishing and racing gaff rig schooner built in 1921 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada. Nicknamed the “Queen of the North Atlantic”, she was later commemorated by the Bluenose one-design sloop (1946) and a replica, Bluenose II (1963). The name Bluenose originated as a nickname for Nova Scotians from as early as the late 18th century. Bluenose had a displacement of 258 tonnes (284 short tons) and was 43.6 metres (143 ft 1 in) long overall and 34.1 metres (111 ft 11 in) at the waterline.
