The base is about 45 inches by 9 inches. This model is made of plastic and has 2 electric lights inside. As with any vintage piece this item shows its age. There is discoloration, stickers peeling, etc… A very brief summary of the Emerald Seas starts with its keel lain in 1944. Its maiden voyage was Dec. 10, 1944 – Boston to England. It took troops to the battle front and brought back casualties. Post war it was out of service, then served some time during the Korean War. It went by the name Alantis 1 at one time. It made many voyages out of Port Everglades, FL. As a young man I made a voyage on it. As I visited many travel agencies this model was shown in their store front windows and at night lit up the window show case. The Emerald Seas was certainly one of the most publicized and show cased lines of the latter quarter century in Florida.
