This Hamilton chronometer has 2 issues which prevent it from running. 1 The movement is missing the Fusee Chain, which is needed to transfer power from the barrel to the movement. 2 The balance has a broken pivot, causing the balance wheel to wobble. Aside from the 2 aforementioned components the movement is complete, and the other parts of the chronometer movement appear to be in good and functional condition. The brass chronometer case has scratches, and some areas of discoloration. The beveled glass is generally clear and shiny, but has some scratches. See photos of glass. The dial is marked Albert S. Jewelers , which was a well-known jewelry store located in San Francisco from 1915 through the 1970s. For those who might be interested in the connection between Samuels Jewelers and historic clocks, Samuels Jewelers commissioned the very elegant and towering San Francisco “Samuels Clock” in 1915, which still stands today at the corner of 870 Market Street in San Francisco. The towering street clock received official San Francisco landmark status in 1975 S. Once worked for Samuels Jewelers writing advertising copy. Hammett used the landmark street clock in Samuels ads and referred to it in at least one of his mystery stories. The serial number on the chronometer movement is 2E11170. No other items are included.
