Twin model steam engine system built on individual pallets for use in combination or singly. The boilers are 10 long and each unit can be used individually or paired with the trunked center section, which includes a 12V metal cased smoke unit. You are on your own for a smokestack system if you use them singly, but they don’t blow a lot of smoke or heat. Boilers and gas tanks are custom made by MacSteam and the engines are Twin-Vee PMR, so parts are readily available if you need them. Pressure regulators are from Forest Classics. Shaft diameter is 4mm. The pallets are design to sit low in the hull for better stability and more options of hull types. Each unit has about 2 hours of run time on the bench and in the boat, but not in the water so I can’t tell you how they perform under load. On the bench they turn 2.75 4-bladed Civil War style props effortlessly, with very little vibration, and at much higher rpm’s than you would ever need for an ironclad. Nominal run time with the pressure regulators tweaked is about an hour on a full boiler with the pressure regulators tweaked. I included an extra port so the boilers can be topped off while under pressure, and a water pump and tank can be added. These options were not needed for my purposes but I will include the additional parts and fittings. Paperwork for boilers will be included. For additional information on these units google 1/32 USS Keokuk to find the build blog. The item “Custom Modular Twin Engine Steam Plant for Model Ships” is in sale since Tuesday, August 30, 2016.
